St Nicholas's Church, Chetwode
A wonderful setting, which in turn is its problem too, but it is the church I most wanted to see. Part of the former Chetwode Priory, there are still adjoining buildings to the south, now a large house which makes the south and east side of the church inaccessible. What we have is a barn of a church, presumably the chancel, with a later west tower to one side of the west wall, and a big raised north transeptal extension. (Commentary provided by Phil Draper) |
