Inside All Saints Church, Hillesden
The west gallery is a wonderful place from which to view the whole interior. Many memorials are gathered in the north chapel, including a very stylised cartouche which I liked a lot to Thomas ISHAM d.1676. In the chancel, the ornamentation is also very unusual, much ornate panelling (especially the east wall) and below the roof a frieze of angels with musical instruments. On the south side between two windows is another fine monument with busts of Sir Alexander Denton and his wife d.1733 - the sarcophagus rests on immense clawed feet. There is also some excellent stained glass in the south transept, the east window half-glazed with medieval glass (believed to be scenes from the life of St Nicholas), and the large south window excellent 19th century, in a similar style.
