St Nicholas's Church, Ibstone
A setting par excellence - high on a hillside, isolated, with views on three sides into the valleys below. This is a small two-celled church with two Norman doorways, the north one is blocked with exposed tympanum of diamond shaped stones (which look redone), and the south one with small friezes of saltire crosses in the abaci. The chancel arch has the same motif, but these look too regular - almost mechanical - so we agreed these could not be original. The small west gallery gives a different perspective.
