St Agatha's Church, Brightwell

Brightwell, St Agatha's Church

An attractive exterior with a plain 18th century brick west tower cuddling up to the clerestory. The interior was a little disappointing, but with several brasses set in the floor. Quite large, a mix of medieval and 19th century restoration. Odd that the latter never appears to leave classical features alone - the west door has been altered with a small narrow Gothic shafted doorway and plate traceried opening above, all inside the orginal doorway.
