St Mark's Church, Cold Ash

Cold Ash, St Mark's Church

A Victorian church of 1864-65 by C Beazley. Nave with bellcote, south porch and apsidal chancel, all in red brick with bands blue brick of stone and stone dressings. Simple yet quite elegant and OPEN to visitors.

An unusual feature is the extension, which has been added recently (probably in the year 2000) where formerly was a blocked arcade to an aisle that was never built. A church hall and rooms now occupy the space where the aisle was to be, using the tops of the blocked arches for windows to give extra light to the nave's interior; a successful and unobtrusive extension well done.
