Speen, Inside St Mary's Church (1)

This is the only view of the nave which is possible during the current renovations (December 2004) without including scaffolding!

The church consisted of a west tower, nave, chancel and south aisle before a generous vicar built a large new nave and chancel where the aisle had been in the 1870s. For the community it seems this was not really required and at some stage in the 1970s the Victorian church was screened off and the services reverted to the original nave and chancel once more. It is this Victorian part where the money is being spent.
