Inside Abbey Church of Our Lady & St Edmund RC, Woolhampton (Douai)
Push open the west doors and the space you enter is awesome, the concrete ribs that support the aisle (or is it an ambulatory?) roof and upper clerestory sweep up from ground level and the whole new space embraces the remnant of the Gothic building. Clean stone, clear glass in the main, and simple effective furnishings augment the building. (Commentary provided by Phil Draper) |
