St Peter's Church, Fordham
St Peter's is a fairly large medieval church, with considerable remains of beautifully executed 19th century frescoes and decoration scheme, not even mentioned in Pevsner (I have a 2nd Edition). These survive above the chancel arch, throughout the chancel and under the tower (see separate photograph of St Peter's Church (Mural in Chancel). However what I came to see more of is the Lady Chapel (seen on this photograph), a large 14th century chapel at the north west angle of the church, raised over a vaulted undercroft which serves as the porch today. Disappointingly access was denied although the openings have a glazed screen: it is used as a children's room and kitchen area today, and reached by a wooden stair from the north aisle.
