Ashbourne, The Empire Picture Hall (Whit Monday 1912)


The Empire Picture Hall in Ashbourne was opened on Whitmonday 1912, but ceased being a Picture Hall in 1959. It is now a Ballroom-cum-Function Hall.

There is a caption on the mount surrounding the original photograph, describing it as:

“Ashbourne's New Picture Hall, which was opened on Whit-Monday.
(Photo by H. Hinge, Ashbourne)”

A photograph of the Empire as it is today, taken on Good Friday 2006 is also available.
