Derbyshire Bibliography Publishers of Derbyshire-Related Books This page provides an index to websites of book retailers who are offering Derbyshire-related historical material for purchase, and supercedes direct linking to their websites from my pages. This enables me to provide further information about them, such as any special access conditions or recommendations which may assist you in finding the information you are looking for. I prefer to list those with a website, so if a publisher you have an interest in isn't mentioned in this list, might I suggest using your favourite search engine, using the name of the publisher followed by ‘publishing’ in quotes - eg “Acme Publishing” as your search term. Other sites may be able to provide a contact address or telephone number, or provide other recommendations. ‘ACME’ - A Company that Makes Everything... Bonsall History Project Local History Group, with a website www.bonsallhistory.org.uk providing up-to-date details of their publications. Breedon Books Site provides a mixture of Local History, Football, Motorsport and Biography publications: www.breedonbooks.co.uk. Chevinside Publications Portal to some of the books mentioned on these pages written by Tom Bates: Chevinside Publications. Churnet Valley Books Site may be slow to access sometimes, but I can recommend them: Churnet Valley Books. Countryside Books Publishers of Walking and Regional interest books: www.countrysidebooks.co.uk The Country Bookstore On the face of it this looks just like another online bookstore, but their Retail Shop is located in the old Hassop Railway Station, and so their catalogue includes many books which are of local interest. Dalesman Publications Home of The Dalesman Magazine and (formerly) Peak District Magazine: www.dalesman.co.uk. Day Books Specalising in publications of diaries, biography, autobiography, &c.: www.day-books.com. Dave Butcher Photography The author specialises in publication of his Fine Art Black and White Photographs: www.davebutcher.net. Derbyshire Countryside Ltd Their publications are available from the Country Bookstore. Derbyshire County Council Cultural & Community Services Part of Derbyshire County Council's site, featuring Leisure and Culture Publications: www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure/local_studies/publications. Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Association Special Interest Group with website www.evra.org.uk. Halsgrove Publishing Publishers of Regional interest books, and a high proportion of the books reviewed on this site: www.halsgrove.com. Landmark of Ashbourne A reliable supplier, providing a “Collectors Library”, and the “Spirit of...” series of special interest books: www.landmarkpublishing.co.uk. I can recommend them. The Melbourne Historical Research Group Local History Group with website www.mhrg.org.uk providing up-to-date details of their activities. Merton Priory Press A well established and reliable publishing company, which also produces Derbyshire Record Society publications. Sadly as of 2 Jul 2008 their website www.merton.dircon.co.uk is no longer available. Midland Railway Society Special Interest Group with website www.midlandrailwaysociety.org.uk. Their publications may also be also available from Pynot Publishing. Peak District Mines Historical Society Special Interest Group with website www.pdmhs.com. Some of their books may be available from the Peak District Mining Museum, from which they may be ordered by post: there is an order form to download on the PDMM web site (listed under 'Links'). Phillimore Publishing Publishers of historical research material for many years: this publisher needs no introduction: website www.phillimore.co.uk. Pynot Publishing Based in Holmesfield, Derbyshire, this company specialises in Local History, Transport and General Publications: www.pynotpublishing.co.uk. The Ramblers Association Special Interest Group with website www.ramblers.org.uk. Robert Hale Independent general interest publishers, established 1936: www.halebooks.com.
