Pictures of the Past : Herbert Ridgeway's Wedding, Eyam
The wedding is of Herbert RIDGEWAY and Nellie ROBINSON, an Eyam school teacher. Frances THOMPSON, with a wide brimmed hat, second to the groom's right in the second row, was another of the schoolmistresses. The two figures who can just be seen looking through the window on the right are maids, Sarah whose married name was BULLARD, and Lily, surname unknown. The photograph is taken outside “West Dene”, Eyam. The groom's father and mother, Isaac and Anne RIDGEWAY are on opposite sides in the front row, and can be recognised from the accompanying photograph “Going to Church”. Does anyone recognise any of the other guests? This is one of several wonderful old postcards and photographs belonging to Bob Munson and his wife Doreen, and relating to the Ridgeways of Eyam. |
