The Way in from Sir William, Bretton

Bretton, The Way in from Sir William

As can be seen, this is a popular spot, even in winter!

John Wesley rode past here on horseback during a snowstorm on 23 March 1765, after visiting Bradwell, and Eyam Woodlands (ie Grindleford), where he'd preached. One imagines him attributing such punishment as being good for the soul, since he came round again the next year about the same time - 27th March 1766!
