Lead mining countryside - what can only be irregular heaps of 'spoil' discarded from pickings? The surrounding countryside is dotted with Mines named ‘Middleton Engine’, ‘Bradshaws’, ‘Slaters Engine’ and ‘Twelve Meers’, with ‘Ladywash’ and ‘Haycliff’ nearby.
