Old Postcard of The Commercial Hotel, Grindleford

Grindleford, The Commercial Hotel

The Commercial Hotel in Grindleford is now renamed as the Sir William Hotel. In close-up, it's possible to see there's an open carriage in the yard on the right of the photograph - its wheels can just be seen in silhouette through the opening. One of Mr Kenyon's ‘Horse Buses’, perhaps, as can be seen on the photograph of Grindleford Station.

(Commentary provided by Rosemary Lockie)

This is one of several old photographs acquired after a sort-out at the Peak National Park Authority's Study Centre.
