Old Postcard of The Haywood c.1920, Grindleford

Grindleford, The Haywood c.1920

This postcard shows the Woodland Path in between Grindleford and Froggatt circa 1920 through the Haywood. The path at this location remains much the same today, although the flagstones seem to be fewer, and no longer so evenly laid... Formerly an old packhorse trail, but now part of the Derwent Valley Heritage Way, it has become one of the most frequented public footpaths in the Peak.

The card was written by "Phil", and addressed to “Arthur”, but never posted. Phil had intended to tell Arthur that he'd had “such a treat at Froggatt” that he stayed another day!
