Old Postcard of ‘Red Lion Row’, Grindleford

Grindleford, ‘Red Lion Row’

Classic view of ‘Red Lion Row’ in the early 20th century - the semi-circular sign for the Old Red Lion (modern photograph) can be seen above its doorway just to the left of the building which housed the post office, where the notice board over the window advertises the ‘Evening Telegraph Special Edition’ (trust me, it does say that, using a magnifying glass on the original, although I can't read what it says below that!).

Interestingly, Richard's collection contained three copies of this card - obviously a popular choice!

(Commentary provided by Rosemary Lockie)

This is one of several old photographs acquired after a sort-out at the Peak National Park Authority's Study Centre.
