Rowsley, The Peacock Hotel


The source for this image is a old postcard, dated around 1904. The card had the following message written in the blank space below the photo:-

"Just having lunch here - glorious country - after going to Haddon and Chatsworth. How are you all? Much love, Ellie."

and was sent to Mrs J. H. Milne, ‘Erin Port’, Sea Bank Rd, Viscard, Cheshire. The postmark is ROWSLEY AU 5, and below it 04 (August 5th 1904). The stamp (a green half-penny) is franked at MATLOCK at 8:45pm the same day.
