Old Postcard of Statue of Fair Flora (c1930s), Stoke
This photograph was taken possibly in the 1930s after surrounding trees were cut. The encroaching woodland doesn't allow such a clear view over the village today. The lady on the photograph is my mother - Ada ("Mollie") Reeves, born 30 April 1905 at Goatscliffe, Grindleford. An account of the “legend” of Fair Flora is available on a separate web page. (Commentary provided by Rosemary Lockie)
This is one of the postcards in ‘The Reeves Collection’. |
