Old Postcard of Wood Cutting at Goatscliffe (1), Stoke

Stoke, Wood Cutting at Goatscliffe (1)

This photograph is taken from what is now called Goatscliffe Farm Lane, looking down over the "three-cornered field" towards the main road (the B6521) running down the hill towards Grindleford Village, to the left of this photograph. The wood behind and to the right was being felled. I am not an expert on dating cars, but I would guess the car's appearance would set the date as sometime during the 1920s.

Note the tall telegraph pole - a prevalent feature on a lot of photographs of a similar vintage!

(Commentary provided by Rosemary Lockie)

This is one of the postcards in ‘The Reeves Collection’.
In other words, it belonged to my mother.
