Pictures of the Past : The Ball Inn, Stoney Middleton

Stoney Middleton, Old Postcard or Photograph of The Ball Inn

This view is very similar to another in this collection, showing the Dale, and Shining Rock, or “Shiny Cliff”. However this one provides a closer view of the Ball Inn, and perhaps even its Inn Sign (attached to the building on the right at first floor level, between the 2 windows).

The building itself appears to have been stables, since a closeup shows two doorways with what appear to be half-doors associated with keeping horses.

The colours are delightful, but I cannot imagine they are authentic! Or are they? Perhaps the walls may have been given an ochre ‘wash’?
