Dale Mouth, Stoney Middleton

Stoney Middleton, Dale Mouth

Not one of the classic Stoney Middleton viewpoints, this photograph shows the octagonal Chip Shop (former Toll Booth from above, on the opposite side of the road from which is the former Royal Oak Inn (to the right and behind the chimney) and its outbuildings (in front of which ‘Keep Clear’ is written on the road). Directly below us (but out of site) is the former Grouse Inn, long since closed as an Inn, and now a private house. Directly opposite is the grassy bank, and pathway up the 'Dale Mouth'. When I was a child it was a limestone-paved roadway. One can imagine the grass being laid to prevent motor-cycle scrambles up and down it...
