Bishop Robert Pursglove was born in Tideswell about 1504, and served in high office to 3 Monarchs during the troubled times following the Reformation. His latter years were however spent in his native Derbyshire and he died on May 2nd 1580 at Dunston, near Chesterfield. This memorial brass can be found in the chancel of Tideswell Church, near to the north wall.
