Holy Trinity Church (South View), Apperley

Apperley, Holy Trinity Church (South View)

I didn't spot the church on my way through Apperley the first time, so I asked a lady when I reached Odda's Chapel at Deerhurst where it was. “Oh, just by the village green - it's red-brick Victorian” - just a few words, but they sum it up to a ‘T’!

A lovely setting, with a Lake on the other site, but possibly not the most attractive of buildings; unfortunately also, it was locked, so I was unable to see inside. According to Kelly's Directory of Gloucestershire (1897), it was built in 1856 - “a structure of brick in the Byzantine style” - as a chapel-of-ease for Deerhurst. It is also noted there were extensive alterations and additions in 1896.
