St John the Evangelist's Church, Purton
Many of you will probably question my sanity, but I found this small church of 1874 (Waller & Son) to be rather attractive, especially outside. [Ed: not at all! I too find it attractive!] A sign by the gate proclaimed the church to be open, and the number of visitors in the Visitors' Book is truly amazing. If, like me, a proportion of visitors also shell out GBP1 for a small history, then this church whilst devoid of any interest on the tourist trails must do far better than some of the grander more famous but locked churches which we all come across. I also visited nearby Breadstone where I was surprised and also pleased to see that the iron church was still standing - see my photo at www.tintabernacles.com, and in the book if you have it.
