The Inscription reads:

In Memory of
T.A.N. FORSYTH,
Test Pilot,
who died on June 3rd 1943
when the Bristol Beaufort
he was testing crashed
in Big Elms Field
Remembered by all
the Family

His full name was Thomas A.N. FORSYTH, and he died aged 30.
