Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King (in 1967), Liverpool

Liverpool, Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King (in 1967)

Oh, doesn't it just make the heart bleed... A scene typical of Sheffield, Liverpool, and many other decent-sized cities in the 1960s, showing off their new buildings, and trying to recover from the devastation of the War... So fresh, clean, lean, and full of hope - an era of short skirts, bouffant hair-dos, strings of ‘boxy’ cars parked alongside the road, and long, low white buildings...

Another photograph of showing more of the Cathedral (only partially visible to the left of the photograph) is also available.
