Barony Church, Glasgow
Barony Church is a grand victorian brick Early English structure of 1886-9 with an ornate copper Gothic fleche over the crossing. It is no longer a church and is used by the University of Strathclyde. Good fortune smiles on one sometimes, and I was able to go in as the vast room was being arranged for exams by invigilators who did not take kindly to me being there, but weakened to allow me to take pictures from the west end (I thought walking around would push my luck!). It stands opposite Barony North Church. A photograph of the interior of Barony Church (with further commentary) is also available. (Commentary provided by Phil Draper) |
