Inside St Peter's Church, Bucknell
These seemingly Norman arches to the west of the crossing, blocked and with two-light 14th century style windows, give cause for speculation. Buildings of England suggests they may have led to transepts - an odd position for them if so. To me they looked 18th century and the windows 19th century, yet the moulding around the nave arched up over then and looked original. On top of the nave was a 15th century clerestory, despite there being no aisles. There are some grand monuments here - all to TROTMANs, including a cute cherub holding a weighty crested scroll to Thomas T and his son Samuel. The pulpit is Jacobean.
