St Michael's Church, Great Tew
St Michael's Church is situated some distance from the road where a classical gateway adds grandeur to the start of the path. The churchyard has been allowed to return to nature, and the church itself has an air of controlled neglect, especially inside, and seems to be getting lost in the trees. It is all built on the hillside and from the porch several steps lead down into the church from a Norman doorway which has been embellished by the addition of 14th century cusping.
