St Peter's Church, Brampton
St Peter is a fairly ordinary church, but the flushwork on the tower and buttresses proves its Suffolkness. Yet sometimes as a digital point-and-shoot snapper you get a humdinger of a picture - among several that are abject failures. They are winners for a number of reasons - often a good framing, right lighting, and somehow making the place look perfect! This photograph sums up the day for me - late afternoon, the sun getting weaker yet still warm and a church demands to be visited. Framing - just look at the foliage! Perfection! Well, it looks the idyllic English setting......... .........But alas, it isn't. You take your life in your hands on a visit here. The church stands on a very nasty bend on the main road, the steps finishing on the road itself. OK parking opposite and getting to the church, a lovely visit, but then coming out you are on a double blind bend and you have to rely on your EARS to cross the road as cars suddenly appear from either direction!
