St Peter's Church, Cransford

Cransford, St Peter's Church

One of my companions called this the dullest church of all in Suffolk... I think that's a little cruel because its verdant churchyard setting is a delight, although makes getting a good shot of the outside a major problem - something I was to find in a number of later Suffolk locations.

St Peter's is restored to the point of obliteration of the medieval features so it all appears to be 19th century, especially from the north which is the main approach. Yet it holds a certain charm and the interior was worthy of more than the two minutes' study. The tower has some minor flushwork decoration and the nave's south wall has some large brick buttressing and a blocked doorway.
