St Mary's Church, Earl Soham
It was a Sunday, a risky day for catching churches open or worse still in use, but it dawned on me that I was actually not finished with Suffolk yet, especially as the sun was shining and warm. I decided to stop'n'start until I reached the A14 when I would then take the longer route home via Birmingham, rather than the Dennington-to-Stowmarket road I had planned initially. When I arrived at St Mary's at Earl Soham, parishioners were already spilling out of the church, with several cars parked in the churchyard itself. More trees, those cars, and a lofty tower meant a contortionist's picture of the exterior. (Commentary provided by Phil Draper) |
