St Mary's Church, Earl Stonham
Another on my way home was the famous church of St Mary at Earl Stonham. Here too as at Pettaugh a service was in progress, another Lady vicar too. The sun was warm, the service was nearing completion, a bench in the sun stood by the south porch...... Unlike Pettaugh I knew it was worth waiting here. Some ten minutes later and the first escapee toddled off down the path, but few others came out as coffee and biscuits were being served at the west end of the nave. I was welcomed in, offered coffee and biscuits several times, but all I wanted to see was the nave roof...... (Commentary provided by Phil Draper) |
