Inside St Andrew's Church, Westhall
Inside more medieval work hints at a former glory that was commonplace in all our churches at one time. The Seven Sacraments font has been visited by the iconoclasts, but retains much of its medieval colouring: in fact this decoration seems alien today as we expect our fonts to be plain stone unless of course they are High Victorian.... Equally the dado of the rood screen survives with a collection of medieval saints, the faces crudely scratched off but often with discernable features remaining. The internal proportions of the church are lovely and the church again has that feel of managed decay which would be lost if the interior was spruced up and repainted!
