St Andrew's Church (Former West Doorway), Westhall

Westhall, St Andrew's Church (Former West Doorway)

14th century masons added a tower at the west end of the south aisle, and opened up a grand new window in the west end of their nave. Perhaps the Norman work was a bit of an embarassment at the time, but this action has meant that the former grand west doorway and the windows above survive, although now visible only from inside the tower. Outside another Norman dorway also survives in the south wall.
