Holy Trinity Church, Abbots Leigh

Abbots Leigh, Holy Trinity Church

On the opposite bank of the Avon Gorge leading from the centre of Bristol to the sea the countryside is rural and habitation opulent and the village of Abbots Leigh in North Somerset can afford neatly manicured verges to the roads. I first came here to Holy Trinity Church in 1972, a few days after a serious fire, yet that day and on several visits since I have never found it locked. I still expect to smell that cloying smoke but hardly a trace remains of the fire apart from some singed roof timbers if you look really hard.
