St George's Church (Royal Arms), Beckington

Beckington, St George's Church (Royal Arms)

In the south aisle are stone Royal Arms dated 1574 and in the other aisle is a monument to the poet Samuel Danyel d.1619 and enthused over by the Master as the earliest example of a Classical monument together with bust in toga. Sorry Sir Nikolaus, if you had read the inscription it states that it was erected by the Countess Dowager Lady Pembroke (Ann Clifford) to whom Danyel was a tutor “in her youth” and died 1619.
