St George's Church, Bicknoller
Set on the slopes of the Quantocks, the church is sited in a sizeable churchyard but one which spreads well to the east and leaves the church tight on the roadside making photography difficult from the west and south. The church was entirely rebuilt in Perpendicular times, with a handsome tower and very tall south porch. The warm red sandstone is a delight but there are traces of the former render and whitewash which is prevalent in the area (as at Sampford Brett). (Commentary provided by Phil Draper) |
