St Thomas à Becket's Church, Pensford

Pensford, St Thomas à Becket's Church

This church has been closed since 1968. It is Victorian attached to a 14th century tower of some bulk, the tower oddly vested in the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), and all picturesquely situated and very photogenic therefore! When vested the CCT (or RCF as it was then) wanted to unroof the church and create a picturesque memorial garden but some members of the PCC did not want this to happen and the CCT got fed up asking. After a brief life as an Exhibition Centre it was sold again.

As the church is now in private ownership, it is not possible to view the inside, but when I got home a scan of the interior from an old postcard was waiting for me in my Inbox.
