feet towards the dawn, Till there breaks
the last and brightest Easter Morn
But the soul in contemplation
utters earnest prayers and strong
Bursting at the Resurrection into song
To that brightest of all meetings
bring us Jesus Christ at last to thy cross
Through death and judgement, holding fast. Amen

A2. Rev Francis GORDON,
First Rector of Biddulph Moor, who,
After he served his own generation
By the Will of God, fell asleep
In Jesus at The Rectory, 27 July 1884
And was laid to rest August 1st 1884, aged 72 years

Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the **ny (stormy) blast
And our Eternal time (home)
Under the shadow of thy throne
Thy saints have dwell secured
Sufficient is Thine arm alone
And our defence is secure.
Before the hills in order stood
Or earth received her frame
From everlasting Thou and GOD.
To endless years the same
A thousand ages in Thy sight,
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
Time like and everlasting stream
Bears all its sons away
They fly forgotten as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
O GOD our help in ages past
Our home for years to come
Be though our Guard while troubles last
And in our Eternal Home, Amen
