St Paul's Church, Croxton

Croxton, St Paul's Church

Built of the local red sandstone, the church suggests externally that it could be in part medieval, with some weathered local Decorated details, and some hardened features too, including the east apse. Nope - it is all the work of Ewan Christian, 1853-54. Timbered south porch, west bellcote and what appeared to be a broad nave and lower narrower apsidal chancel, with north east Vestry. So the interior was a bit of a surprise as there are arcades subdividing the space into nave and aisles.
