St Margaret's Church, Yatton Keynell
The church of St Margaret in Yatton Keynall (or Keynell), Wilts has some surprising features, mostly inside. The tall slim and unbuttressed 13th century tower has a panelled top stage similar to other local examples (Nettleton, West Kington, Westwood etc). The church is not particularly large, yet in comparison the north porch is. If you come here you will find a grille across the door with a locked padlock - don't be fooled, try it, it is usually open like the door behind... (Commentary provided by Phil Draper) |
